1 - 29 George Marshall Store Gallery Opens for the 2011 Season
We begin our exhibition season by presenting the work of the 2010 grantee and finalists of the New Hampshire Charitiable Foundation's Artist Advance Grant. 2010 Artist Advancement Grantee is Gail Spaien and 2010 Finalists Kim Bernard, Lauren Gillette and Bear Kirkpatrick. In the Dock Level Gallery, Lisa Grey presents new work combinining photographs, stitching and found objects on naturally dyed paper and textitles.  Saturday, April 23, Reception held at the Gallery from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Exhibition Dates: April 24 - May 29, 2011, Gallery Hours: Thrusday - Saturday 11 - 5, Sunday 1 - 5 and also by appointment.

8 George Marshall Store Gallery Talk - Lisa Grey
Lisa Grey will be giving a gallery talk on Sunday, May 8th at 3 p.m. Lisa Grey is presenting her new work combinining photographs, stitching and found objects on naturally dyed paper and textitles in the Dock Level Gallery.  Exhibition Dates: April 24 - May 29, 2011, Gallery Hours: Thrusday - Saturday 11 - 5, Sunday 1 - 5 and also by appointment.

11 May Day Celebration
Join us for a traditional celebration of Spring! Build a tambourine, rattle, or drum and create a crown made from flowers and vines. Play your instrument and wear you crown as we parade around the gardens urging the flowers to blossom and bloom. Our parade will end at the May Pole where we’ll learn the traditional dance that weaves the long ribbons into a beautiful pattern of Spring colors. Do you play the fiddle or flute? Bring your instrument to play some tunes while we dance. Preregistration suggested. Everyone is welcome! Wednesday May 11, 3:00-5:00pm    $5 suggested donation. This event will take place at the Elizabeth Perkins House located just over Sewalls Bridge on Southside Rd.

13 Dinner at Jefferds Tavern
Celebrate spring with a hearth-cooked dinner of spring lamb and other seasonal favorite dishes. Guests are encouraged to bring their own favorite beverages to complement the meal. Friday, May 13, 6 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  $30 non-members and $25 members per person.  Reservations required. For more information contact Richard Bowen or click here for menu.

21   Muskets, Swords, & Powder Horns
Observe Armed Forces Day at Old York.  Back in 2011 after being received with great interest in 2010, this program will give enthusiasts of all ages the opportunity to view uniforms and weaponry from Old York’s collections.  Certain items will be available to handle (with white curatorial gloves). Weapons from the 18th – 20th Centuries will be featured. Saturday, May 21, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Remick Barn.

June

A New Exhibit at the Remick Barn Is Coming Soon
The Museums of Old York will be presenting a new exhibit about the York Settlement Period (1631 - 1745) which will be opening in early June 2011. The exhibit will bring together collections from museums and private collectors from Maine and New Hampshire which will focus on Trade, Religion and War in the 17th Century.  This is a unique opportunity to see objects from private collections that you will not be able to see anywhere else! Look for details later this spring.

12   Lost York:  The History that Nature Has Reclaimed
Join Old York staff members for a guided tour of areas outside of the village proper.  Visit abandoned cellar holes and old mill sites, read the gravestones of early farming families, and see how Mother Nature has taken back what early citizens created. Sunday, June 12, 2:00 p.m. Free.

15  22nd Annual Decorator Show House Preview Party
Join the Museums of Old York at the Preview Party celebrating the 22nd Anniversary of the Old York Decorator Show House! Be one of the first to see historic Emerson House and meet the talented designers who are responsible for the fabulous transformation of this historic home, while enjoying fine food and drinks. The event will be held at Emerson House, located at 31 Long Sands Road, York, Maine on Friday, July 15th from 6 ~ 9 p.m.
Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased by calling (207) 363-4974 after May 1st.

16  22nd Annual Decorator Show House Opens
This year's show house is open to the public from Saturday, July 16th through Saturday, August 13th. Emerson House, located at at 31 Long Sands Road in historic York Village, can be viewed Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursdays until 7 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. The house is closed on Tuesdays. 22  Dinner at Jefferds Tavern
Join us for a summer sampler of local seafood, beef, fresh vegetables, and desserts of local fresh fruits. Weather permitting, we will move outside to the blue-stone terrace.  We will supply all of the food, so please feel free to bring your own favorite summer beverage. Friday, July 22, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.  $25 per person.  Reservations required.

6 Who Discovered York?
