Library Mysteries
Every year, the library acquires new objects for its collections or receives requests for help from residents and visitors with a connection to York. We are often asked to identify the subjects of postcards, photographs and paintings. In these cases, we need your help!
The postcard pictured above was donated by Russell Peterson. According to the inscription, it depicts "one of the great many over night stops at Anchor Grove, York, ME." If you know where this is, or could provide us with more details about Anchor Grove or this particular cabin, please call (207) 363-4974 or email Librarian Virginia Spiller.

The above portraits were painted sometime in the 1950s or 1960s, possibly at the York Art Association. A library patron has asked us to help him identify the individuals depicted in each of the portraits. If you can help us identify one or more of the individuals in the portraits, please call (207) 363-4974 or email Librarian Virginia Spiller.
